About Us
High Alpine Adventures is built around a different way of experiencing the mountains. Instead of hiking for the day and returning to the same hotel, our adventures keep moving forward - connecting trails, alpine passes, and mountain towns into one continuous journey.
The days are active and rewarding, while everything around the hiking is intentionally simple. You won't finish a full day on the trail only to drive back across the valley, search for somewhere to eat, or figure out where tomorrow begins. Lodging, meals, transportation, and the route itself are already woven into the adventure.
We also keep our groups small, giving each adventure a more personal feel and the flexibility to settle into a comfortable rhythm along the way. The result is an experience that feels immersive from beginning to end - less like a collection of separate hikes and more like truly traveling through the Colorado high country on foot.
You focus on the trail.
We take care of what comes around it.
The kind of adventure we'd want to take ourselves
High Alpine Adventures started with a simple idea: create the kind of mountain adventure we would want to take ourselves. And from there, ideas can run as wild as the wilderness we immerse ourselves into.
Full days on beautiful trails. Wide-open alpine scenery. A new destination waiting at the end of the day. Then a hot shower, a great meal, a comfortable place to sleep, and another stretch of Colorado waiting the next morning.
Why travel through the mountains on foot?
There is something different about walking into the town where you will spend the night and knowing the trail itself brought you there.
Instead of heading out for a hike and returning to where you started, each day takes you somewhere new. Mountain passes, forests, valleys, and towns begin to connect, and before long the trail feels less like an activity and more like the way you are experiencing Colorado.
As the adventure unfolds, you begin to see how everything fits together. You might look back from a pass toward where you stayed the night before, then turn around and see the valley you are heading toward next. That feeling of continuously moving through the landscape is a huge part of what we wanted High Alpine Adventures to capture.
Why did we build it this way?
We love the freedom and sense of adventure that comes from spending several days moving through the mountains, but we also think the experience should be comfortable and easy to enjoy.
That means you can spend your time taking in the trail, stopping for a view, enjoying the people around you, and looking forward to the town ahead - rather than thinking about where to stay, how to get to tomorrow's trail, or where you are going to find dinner that evening.
You wake up excited for the day ahead of you, and everything you need along the way has already been thought out, planned, and executed.
What does a good adventure feel like to us?
We want it to feel adventurous without feeling rushed, active without feeling like a race, and organized without feeling overly structured.
There is a route and a plan, but there is also room to enjoy the day as it unfolds. Maybe a viewpoint deserves a few extra minutes. The group finds a scenic place to stop for lunch. Maybe weather or trail conditions lead us toward a slightly different route.
That flexibility is part of being in the mountains, and we think it makes for a better adventure.
Our approach comes from years spent hiking and exploring Colorado's high country, from mountain trails and alpine passes to many of the state's legendary 14ers, the same 14ers you can experience on our 8-day adventure. That time outside shapes the routes we choose, the way we plan each day, and how we help the adventure flow once we are out there.
Who are we taking into the mountains?
We believe that matters.
Before every adventure, we take the time to learn a little about the people joining us - their hiking experience, comfort level on the trail, dietary needs, adventure goals, and anything else that will help us create a great experience for them.
We want to know who is coming with us, not simply how many spots have been filled.
Keeping our groups small makes that possible. It gives everyone more room to find a comfortable pace, makes it easier to get to know the people you are sharing the trail with, and creates an adventure that feels personal rather than packaged.
What do we hope stays with you?
Our hope is that you leave with more than good photos or a list of places you visited.
We want you to remember reaching a mountain pass and taking in the view, walking into a new town at the end of the afternoon, how good dinner tasted after a full day outside, and the people you shared it all with.
We want you to remember looking back across the mountains and realizing that you are stronger than you could have imagined, and you traveled farther than you thought you could.
Most of all, we want the adventure to feel fully lived while you are in it - several days where you can wake up, head outside, and simply be part of the adventure. The kind of experience you find yourself thinking about, talking about, and drawing on long after you have left the mountains.
We hope to see you soon!
Hi, I'm Lincoln

Hi, I'm Lincoln, founder of High Alpine Adventures. The idea for High Alpine started while I was traveling around the Tour du Mont Blanc, the classic 105-mile route circling Western Europe's highest peak. Jumping between valleys, mountain towns, and refugios, I loved the feeling that an entire adventure could unfold on foot, but with the amenities of a classic mountain lodge. What started as a curious idea along the trail stuck with me throughout the journey and eventually became the foundation for High Alpine Adventures. Between each lunch on a high alpine pass and each dinner in a beautiful mountain town, I know this idea could become a reality, in my own backyard.
I grew up in Colorado hiking, backpacking, skiing, just living in the mountains that I called home. I spend my summers climbing Colorado 14ers, camping in remote alpine basins, exploring new trails, and going on the most memorable adventures I can create for myself. Some of my favorite memories have come from my challenging, long days filled with mileage and technical terrain, while others come from spending multiple days backpacking the wilderness with family friends.
That background has shaped how I built High Alpine Adventures. Years spent outside have given me a strong understanding of Colorado's terrain, mountain weather, route planning, changing conditions, and the small details that can make the difference between a good adventure and a great one.
When I started building the company, I wanted that firsthand experience to be reflected in everything from the routes we choose to the way each adventure is planned. I've spent years exploring Colorado's high country through every national forest and mountain range, awesome routes like the Four Pass Loop and Gore Range Trail, and countless days following trails into mountains I would summit that day.
Outside of High Alpine, you'll usually still find me somewhere outside - big mountain skiing, traveling, cycling, and so much more. The mountains have shaped a huge part of my life, and creating High Alpine Adventures has been a way to turn that experience and curiosity into something I can share with others.
